Premier League Darts Betting Preview

Info from @DaveWholey

Thornton +2.5 legs against van Gerwen at 10/11. Thornton throws first so MvG needs to win by 2 clear breaks of throw to cover this. Thornton averaged more last week than MvG so expecting a close match. Throw into the mix a drunken Scottish crowd booing every MvG dart might well see him crumble a little at the pressure end of legs & Thornton can pounce.  Thorn/MvG threw 12 180s between them last week but it is a 5/4 shot they throw 7 between them this week. Both could cover it on their own.  Pointed out that both Thorn/MvG’s matches last week were 12 legs. Given Thornton throws first we’re still likely to have 10/12 legs if MvG wins as he’ll throw first in the even number legs & is more likely to hold for the win than break for it.

Lewis has a good record against Taylor in the PL having lost only 1 of the last 5 but I expect a drubbing this week. Whitlock won 5 of his 7 legs last week against Lewis in 16 darts or more, Taylor won 5/6 in 15 darts or less. Taylor -2.5 at 11/10 for me.

Given Whitlock’s switching, Anderson at Evens to throw most 180s looks worthwhile. Whitlock hit the fewest T20s out of all 10 players last week. Whitlock only thrown 5 or more 180s in 1 of his last 17 matches & that match had 25 legs in it. Worth a look at evens.

Still 10/11 on Hamilton to throw more 180s than Wade. Just 1 180 in last 50 legs for Wade. Hammer hit at least 3 in 6 of last 8 PL matches.

Barney looks worthwhile at 8/11. Newton struggled with his doubles but Barney still outscored him by 20 points per visit so 60 ahead after 9 darts & with Newton’s doubling, that’ll be far too much to overcome. Barney won 5 legs in 15 darts or less, Newton only 1. 8/11 looks big.  Often said that Barney loves playing in Scotland. His record up there in the Premier League: Played 14, Won 9, Drew 2 & Lost 3.
